Since 2003, Secosky & Associates, Inc. has specialized in forensic architectural, engineering, and scientific consulting for complex building, accident, and liability cases. Founded by James J. Secosky, AIA, NCARB, the firm provides expert site investigations, analysis, professional reporting, and testimony for clients across the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.
Our work helps attorneys, insurance professionals, property owners, businesses, municipalities, townships, and government agencies uncover the causes of failures, identify responsible parties, and resolve disputes efficiently. From building failures and accessibility issues to vehicle accident causation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSH0 and International Building Code compliance cases. We deliver the technical clarity and professional insight clients need to make informed decisions.
While many national consulting firms focus on volume, Secosky & Associates focuses on precision, experience, and specialization.
We provide a more focused and more specialized forensic consulting service, led directly by senior experts who have decades of field experience—not junior associates.
Every engineer, scientist, and architect we bring onto a case is a seasoned professional or business owner in their specialized discipline. This senior-level expertise ensures that every site investigation, analysis, report, and legal testimony is grounded in real-world knowledge and technical accuracy—not just theory.
In addition to forensics, our firm often provides construction project management and client and contractor mediation services, giving clients a true end-to-end solution—from investigation and reporting through remediation and resolution.
This hands-on, specialized structure sets us apart from larger firms by offering direct access to the people doing the work—experienced experts who understand the details, not just the data

Each consultant within Secosky & Associates — from engineers to scientists — is a seasoned professional with decades of field experience and, in many cases, leadership of their own private practices. This structure allows us to assemble highly specialized individuals and/or teams for each case, ensuring expert insight in every technical discipline involved.

Headquartered in Harwick, Pennsylvania, Secosky & Associates provides forensic consulting services throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland, with national project capability through NCARB certification for architectural work across the United States and its territories.

While larger firms often take a broad, generalized approach, Secosky & Associates delivers focused, senior-level expertise on every case. We combine technical excellence with the responsiveness of a specialized firm, offering not just forensic analysis but also construction management and mediation services — helping clients achieve faster, more cost-effective resolutions without litigation.

James J. Secosky brings over 40 years of experience in construction, architecture, and forensic investigation. Before founding Secosky & Associates, he served as an architect for 4 major western Pennsylvania firms, Senior Project Manager and Practicing Architect for both Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, overseeing major projects and complex facilities while having his own architecture practice.
James' background is uniquely comprehensive — combining practical construction experience in multiple trades, general contractor, army veteran specialist, professional architectural practice, and more than two decades of forensic consulting. He also served under private contract as a forensic architect with Lapina and Associates LLC and remains under a selective contract as a Senior Consultant for Rimkus Consulting, one of the nation’s leading forensic firms.
This blend of hands-on field knowledge, design expertise, and investigative precision allows James and his team to approach every case with the depth and accuracy required for expert site investigation, reporting, mediation settlement and construction management without litigation, and as an expert witness, providing testimony in arbitration, mediation hearings and courtroom trials.
Every investigation tells a story — and at Secosky & Associates, our work has helped attorneys, insurers, and property owners find the facts, uncover the truth, resolve disputes, and prevent future construction failures and premises liability and other accidents.
